February 26, 2009 Updates

This morning when we arrived to the NICU, our babies were no where to be found and this had sent us in a frenzy mode. We immediately found out that all three of them had moved to the other side of NICU which is considered to be the “graduate” unit for babies who are almost ready to go home. It was explained that due to the NICU becoming very busy and almost full, they moved our triplets there even though they are not considered “graduates” yet.

As for updates on the triplet’s progress – as anticipated, Sydney and Sebastian both have jaundice which is normal for premature babies. They both have blue light on the top of their incubator. It is believed that this may last for a day or two. After yesterday, Max no longer has jaundice however it appears Max has Respiratory Distress Syndrome as he continue to work hard to breath. They had to move him back to the other side and put him on C-PAP to help him with breathing. We are hoping this will be a day or two as we hate seeing Max hooked up to a C-PAP. We have faith in Max as he is a fighter and are praying for a speedy recovery.

This morning, Sebastian was finally fed through a tube. Sebastian seems to be doing well with that. Max was not fed today as he seems to be having difficulties in digesting the milk that he was fed yesterday and his magnesium level is still a bit high. Sydney continues to be fed by bottle and through a tube and Sydney sure eats fast! :-)

A good friend of our, Matt, flew in this evening to see the babies. He was excited to meet them and is in awe of them. We are currently staying at a hotel with him this evening. We are very much looking forward to sleeping in a comfortable bed and getting some much needed sleep.

Enjoy the pictures we have posted. More updates will be coming your way. Hugs to you all.
