February 25, 2009 Updates

Three days old already! We can’t believe it! Already! How fast time flies! We are savoring and enjoying every moment we spend with our triplets. We are still in awe of this whole new experience. Sometimes, we need to pinch each other to truly believe it. :-)

All three of them continue to do well. There have been some changes with their progress. Sebastian still has a high level of magnesium and as a result of this, we were not able to bottle feed him yet. We are hoping his magnesium level will drop and start feeding him tomorrow. Sydney and Max both were bottle-fed by us today with between 1 ml to 3 ml of milk. It’s an incredible feeling feeding them and watching them as they eat. We also love watching their expressions and how they gaze in our eyes as we nurse them. It’s a great feeling!

After blood work this morning, it indicated that Max has jaundice and to help treat jaundice, a special bright blue light has been placed over Max’s closed ICU “house”. The nurse mentioned there may be a possibility of Sydney and Sebastian having jaundice as well pending on their blood work tomorrow. They have assured us that this is common with premature babies and is usually easy to treat.

This evening, both Sydney and Sebastian moved back into a closed ICU “house” as their body temperature is a bit slight lower than 97.7. This is to help them regulate their body temperature and maintain it regularly. The nurse explained that this is common and is confident this will be for a few days at the most.

Tonight, our surrogate M has finally received her discharge paperwork and after 68 days (Yup! 68 days! Since December 19, 2008) of being in the hospital, she is able to go home. We had lunch with her earlier and she is excited and, at the same time, nervous about returning home. She is looking forward to being with her family again. We are extremely thankful for M and for all of the sacrifices she has made. She has been extraordinary and is a true trooper! We are truly blessed to have her as the surrogate of our three beautiful babies!

Before we forget, some of you have asked us about sending us gifts for the babies. We are still registered at Babies R Us, Target, and www.justmultiples.com Gift cards are also welcomed. They can be sent to our home in Phoenix, AZ. Rather than publish our address here, please email us for the address.

If you have any questions – feel free to email us. More updates and pictures will continue to come your way in the next few days. Hugs to you all.

Sean, TJ, Sebastian, Maximillian, and Sydney

  1. Glad to hear the babies are doing well, even though they are moved back into the closed ICU. Hopefully you two are getting your rest also. Keep the pictures coming. Our love to you. Poppa and Grammy Sanger
