Wow.. All I can say wow.. it has been an amazing experience. It is sure awesome feeling like this way - we are DADDIES now! :-) Sean and I only have slept three hours each since we got here last night. Sean and I will be going to bed in a few after sending this email.
This morning, Seb was taken off the breathing machine (CPAP) first and was breathing on his own independently.. Sydney was taken off the breathing machine (CPAP) second and was breathing on her own independently this afternoon/evening. Max continues to be on breathing machines and continues to need assistance with breathing. They are trying to expand his premature lungs to attempt to breath on his own tomorrow. (praying that he does soon!) All of them had blood drawn for bloodwork to ensure that they do not have bacteria in their bloodstream or to continue on antibodies if they do. This is rountinely done in premature babies and there has been no major complications or concerns so far. Knock on wood :-)
Seb definitely has Sean's hair!!! :-) SO CUTE!!! As for Max, we are having a hard time to figure out what he looks like because he still has breathing machine on his face and he has not shown his beautiful eyes yet... Syd is so BEAUTIFUL.. She is the one who has been looking at us often with open eyes. wow.. :-) All three of them have tons of hair..but Seb has more!! :-)
Sean and I have had the opportunity to hold our beautiful and tiny babies in our arms today and WOW!! What a feeling!! Had tears in our eyes! :-)
Some of you have asked about hearing test. We asked our nurses and doctor about this - they stated that they have not taken the test since it is not a major concern right now as breathing, eating and maintaining their body temp are the first priorities. Hearing tests will be taken prior to their discharge from the hospital. We are not holding our breath on this one. As of when they will be discharged, no one knows for sure but the doctor and nurses said that they could be discharged as early as late next week or couple of weeks. We will see.
Our babies have several bruises from IV and blood draws. :-( But nurses stated that they will go away in a few days... Nothing to worry about.
As for M, our surrogate, she is slowly recovering from the C-section. She had the opportunity to see the babies and was in awe of them as we are. Her husband and mother were here today as well. She is itching to get out of the hospital and be home with her family. She has been a true trooper through this whole pregnancy. We love her!
We feel truly blessed to have them in our lives and feel very honored to be their daddies. :-) Keep you all posted tomorrow.
Love you all!
